Hi!
My name is Cati Bennàssar, and I have enjoyed drawing since I was a child. I believe my passion for art stems from being surrounded by it throughout my life; my father is a painter, and my grandfather was a painter too.
I pursued a degree in Art History at the University of the Balearic Islands, and I also completed the postgraduate course titled «Thinking about Art Today» at the Autonomous University of Barcelona and the Miró Foundation. While I thoroughly enjoyed studying art from the beginning of humanity to the 20th century, I discovered that my true passion lies in drawing, painting, and exploring my creative side. This realization led me to delve into various techniques.
I developed an interest in the art of urban sketching, which I find to be a deeply personal, introspective, and spontaneous form of drawing. It allows me to express myself without any pretensions and serves as a meditative practice. Gradually, I began exploring ways to work on larger formats, always combining different materials such as oils, acrylics, collage, pastels, and pencils.
I am particularly drawn to landscapes and nature, as they make me feel complete and present. My paintings often incorporate motifs inspired by Mallorca and Pollença, my hometown, as well as
moments and places from my travels. Whether I’m in the mountains, the garden at home, or on a trip, I enjoy taking notes in my notebook, which later serve as inspiration for larger-scale aintings.
Painting and drawing have taught me the art of observation, bringing me back to the present moment and fostering a sense of awareness and appreciation.
I hope you find enjoyment in my work as well.
Thank you.
